school's out!
Will had a few weeks between semesters and we milked it for all it was worth!!! We celebrated our one year anniversary in the city!! It was so great because Will had just passed his final and so he could just relax and not worry about school :) Then off to utah we went to see the fam for a week. Best week ever!! Back in NYC we headed straight to the Belmont Stakes to watch the race!! Mine That Bird had a chance at a triple crown! But he gave it up to Summer Bird who had 12-1 odds. I'm not that into horse races, but it was a blast!

The last 6 months...
Ok...so its been a while since we've updated our blog, sorry we've been really busy! Here's a quick summary of pictures of what we've been up to for the past 6 months:
Our new kitten, Max! Only 10 weeks old.
Max & his stray friend
Max hates baths!!! Poor kitty...

Will & Mark at the Big East Tournament!
Crucial free throws to send it into OT
Syracuse Wins!!...their 7th OT game in the past 24hrs!
So one night around 11PM we think we hear a tow truck and look outside only to find our street blocked off by NYPD and their version of the SWAT Team. We go out to find out what's going on, and apparantly some guy who was dog-sitting for his friend had gone NUTS!!! and decided to break everything in sight including all the windows, a $15,000 statue, 300yr old clock, etc... The guy unsuccessfully tried to break the gas lines & even tried to slit his wrists. If you look closely in one of the pictures you can see a blurry image of the guy through the 2nd story window. He's butt-naked with blood all over him. What worried the police even more was that he had a rifle in the apt...yikes! Anyhow there were about 30 cop cars 5 SWAT trucks and couple of huge police trucks...They had the entire parameter surrounded, it was crazy! We could hear the cops trying to bash the door down along with all the yelling and screaming. About 5 hrs later they eventually caught the guy.....

Mariano Rivera closings out for the Yankees
Yanks WIN 6-5! NYY 6 CLE 5

We went to Wicked for our 1st anniversary - May 22nd!
After Wicked we took a stroll in Central Park. We were going to go canoeing, but the canoe shop was already closed...
Followed by a night in Korea Town
Which was followed by a guy getting hit by a Taxi...typical NYC
Trip to SLC!!
Walkin around Temple Square
3rd future statue at the Delta Center??
Hangin out with friends at a BBQ before the Belmont Stakes!
Max is such a character...he loves to play fetch and hide & go-seek.

Syracuse Wins!!...their 7th OT game in the past 24hrs!The new Yankee Stadium...a PALACE!

Trip to SLC!! Our trip SLC was one of the best trips, but at the same time, one of the most stressful...so many people to see, so little time. It was good to see some familiar faces and be able to go eat at some of our favorite places.
That's all folks!

Christmas Break
Finally Christmas break has come! Wasn't sure if we still remembered our password...it's been a while. Anyhow during the break we've gotten a lot of snow and bone chilling weather. The first day it snowed we built a big snowman in our backyard. Unfortunately later that evening a bunch of kids came by and ripped the arm off...I was about to go punk 'em, but then I realized I'm 26 now...lol.

For Christmas we went to Rockafeller Center to go see the big Christmas Tree then we were off to The Christmas Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall. They had a live band and 2 organists that played along in-sync with the entire show. The Rockettes were amazing as well, they definately know how to put on a show! The atmosphere inside Radio City was eye-opening, everything looked so elegant. That same night after the show we ran into Alonzo Mourning on 6th Avenue. He used to be my favorite playerback in the day, so it was a pretty big deal...lol. I wore his number back when I played Jr. Jazz in 4th grade.
GO UTES!!!

First Week of School
It's a done deal! The first week of PA school is in the books. I passed my medical terminolgy exam...what a relief! 2 kids got kicked out...bummer. School is starting to get pretty intense though. The days are long and the amount of reading is ridiculous. My classmates are great, everyone seems really friendly and helpful. I'm still getting adjusted to wearing a shirt and tie to class everyday...I feel so grown up. 1 week down, 103 left to go!
Last Thursday we experienced our first flash flood. After I had gotten out of class it started raining really hard...wait it wasn't rain, it was buckets of water coming down. I had never seen so much rain come down so hard! By the time I had gotten home the water in the street was up to my shin, luckily we didn't have any water damage...whew!
Yesterday we were planning to go to the beach and get some body surfing in, but the skies looked gray :( so we went to Home Depot instead :) and bought caulk to seal the cracks and crevices along the bottom of our walls.
Today we went to go watch the Yankees play the Kanssas City Royals. I'm not a big baseball fan, but I had a great time. The weather was beautiful, we had our hotdogs & crackerjacks and the Yankees won in extra innings...what more could you ask for?
Michael Phelps just won his 8th gold medal....wow! Anyways, it's time to go study now...

New Yorkers!
Well, it’s official, we’re New Yorkers! Our place is looking way nicer than anything I had expected. NYC is starting to feel like home now. We haven’t been working, but things have been really busy and expensive. Recently I’ve been busy with a few projects around the house. I’ve installed 2 deadbolt locks, a peephole, screen door lock and a motion sensor light for the back porch. I’m kinda thinkin if I should’ve gone into carpentry?…seems like a fun job. Afton has been making fun of me for going to Home Depot everyday and aimlessly wandering around looking for new projects to take on…lol. I take this seriously! Yesterday we got a new GPS system from Circuit City. It’s pretty much amazing. It’s smarter than Google Maps and that’s near impossible. It sure would’ve helped to have had it a couple weeks ago. Our friends JD and Gerritt are coming out to visit tomorrow for a couple of days…it’ll be nice to see some familiar faces. School starts Monday and I have a big med. term. exam that I need to pass in order to remain in the program. To be continued…

week 2
All right! I'm not sure how this blog thing works. Will tells me it's easy enough though. We've been in NY for 8 whole days now and we are loving it. Our first week here has been busy busy busy! Getting unpacked and settled in. We'll have to post pictures of our new place. It's lovely here. We've been driving around trying to get used to the area. Driving in NY is something else. It always seems like rush hour. So everything seems to take longer than it should. And we keep getting lost :) There are no mountains out here to reference! We'll figure it out eventually.
There are so many cultures here. I think I am the only caucasian in our neighborhood. Our neighbors on each side are korean. And there are lots of jamaicans and african americans and I think some russians and hispanics and lots more i'm sure. So in that way I feel far from home sometimes. But it's exciting. We feel lucky to be here. And we just realized that since we haven't been working, we've been together almost 24 hrs a day for the last two weeks. And we haven't gone crazy yet :) which is good. Will starts school next week and hopefully I start work soon. So we're enjoying our time together while we can!! I think that's about it for now. Nothing too exciting. No babies :) no crazy gun fights ;) We'll keep you posted!! love ya'll
